Who Prepares a Survey Plan in NSW in Albury
The Surveying and Spatial Information Act 2002 (NSW) says, in section 21(1), that a person must not carry out a land survey for fee or reward, or advertise that he or she is willing to, unless the person is a registered land surveyor; and the Board of Surveying and Spatial Information's pathway to registration page says a person is eligible to be registered as a surveyor if the person holds a recognised qualification, has recognised practical experience, has passed the Board's examinations and is of good character. Before an Albury job goes ahead, ask whoever quotes whether the person preparing the plan is registered.

What survey plan preparation in Albury actually involves
We read the Spatial Services page on 7 October 2026. It also says registered surveyors maintain the cadastral integrity, or make survey plans that show where property boundaries (the cadastre) are, and that Spatial Services, through the Office of the Surveyor-General, provides the legal framework under which surveyors must conduct their surveys. We read the Act and the Board's pathway to registration page from copies saved on 7 October 2026, and each statement above is that source's own. Neither page says what an identification survey is or who may lodge a plan, so we state neither.
What this site does and does not say
This site is run by a marketing company. We are not surveyors, we prepare no survey plans, and we do not say that any provider we pass an enquiry to is registered. The question is yours to ask.

When to ask early
Where works may affect survey marks, Spatial Services says a registered surveyor should be consulted as early as possible, at the planning stage, and recommends engaging a registered land surveyor as early as possible; it says such surveyors are legally qualified to determine the location of a property boundary. That is the regulator's recommendation about marks and works near them. The survey marks page has the rest.
The rule is State-wide, so nothing about it is particular to Albury. What is local is the land and the council: see subdividing land in Albury and the suburb pages.

Who Prepares a Survey Plan in NSW in Albury — common questions
How do I check who prepares the plan?
Ask whether the person preparing it is registered with the Board of Surveying and Spatial Information, and ask for the answer in writing with the quote. We have not read the Board's register and do not say how it is searched.
Is this site a surveyor?
No. A marketing company runs it and passes each enquiry to an independent local provider. We do not say that any provider is registered.
Who sets the legal framework?
Spatial Services says that, through the Office of the Surveyor-General, it provides the legal framework under which surveyors must conduct their surveys.

Before any survey: check the person is registered with the Board
The Surveying and Spatial Information Act 2002 (NSW) says, in section 21(1), that a person must not carry out a land survey for fee or reward, or advertise that he or she is willing to, unless the person is a registered land surveyor. The Board of Surveying and Spatial Information's pathway to registration page describes how a surveyor becomes registered. Ask whoever quotes whether they are registered.
